Barney Frank, introduced legislation that would legalize online gambling. Barney has been successful in delaying the implementation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). It was supposed to go into effect at the end of last year. It's been delayed until June. Family advocates explain that Frank called for the delay in order to have time to overturn UIGEA.
The Fairleigh Dickinson poll also shows a majority oppose sports betting and the legalization of it for government revenues, according to Mike Faragher, a counselor with the Problem Gambling Treatment and Research Center.
